Snow Day
Charlotte made history this year! The city hasn't had a White Christmas since 1947. It came down last night just before 7pm, and gave us a good couple of inches to play in this morning.
Tom was gracious enough to let me sleep in this morning, and as soon as I walked downstairs, it was, "When are you going to finish your coffee so we can go outside?" I started wondering how many children I had. Two, if you count my husband and his 1& 1/2 year old-like glee to be seeing snow. I moseyed on upstairs, bundled up, and came down to two very anxious generations waiting so patiently for us to all go play outside.
We built a very small"Frosty,"
had a snowball fight,
and even attempted to sled down our hill. When that didn't work too well, the snow covered slide seemed like the next best thing.
I don't know who had more fun, us or Connor, but I do know that we had a very magical Christmas weekend. It was one that we will always remember and cherish as our first Southern White Christmas.

Cookies
I finally got the urge to bake this holiday season. It was only two dozen cookies, but at least it was something. I also figured that since cookies aren't all that messy, I would put Connor in his special little Christmas-cookie-making apron, and let him help.
He was a pro! I mean, look at the way he held the bowl and used the spoon. Most of it ended up on the counter, but whatever. It was fun.
First, we poured in the ingredients, then mixed and mixed until we were dizzy!

After making such a mess, it was time to clean up. Connor was on it!
Upon seeing this picture, Tom said, "Dawn! You need to stop..." It's not like he was coerced. He likes using the vacuum! He will be a very well rounded man, who will be much appreciated by his wife. Isn't that what we should be striving for? I guess it didn't help that during our conversation Connor puckered up for a swipe of my chapstick. ;)
Hey! Whatever makes our little boy happy!
It's Pajama Time!
"Pajama to the left, Pajama to the right (jamma jamma jamma, pj)!
That is a book we frequent at bedtime written by Sandra Boynton. It's about having fun and dancing in your pajamas. Connor doesn't dance. I didn't think he knew how.
Enter his Uncle "Ark" (Mark). Connor was a dancing machine last weekend when Mark and Kristen came to visit. Here he is mimicking his best "Pajama Jam:"
He's so proud of himself. That little smile...oohh!! I could just eat him up, but I won't. That would be mean, and a bit disgusting...

Oh, Christmas Tree
Connor and his Papa
Papa LOVES Connor, and Connor LOVES Papa. We frequently drive by the entrance to my parents' neighborhood to do our errands and such. Every time we do, Connor looks out the window and says, "Papa." It is astonishing to me how his little mind works. How does a 1 and 1/2 year old know where we are? He totally has Tom's sense of direction, that's for sure. And, for that, I am grateful.
Anyhoo, a few days ago, Connor was happy to be turning into their neighborhood rather than just passing by. Even more astonishing for my little guy was the concrete mixer and it's strong workers paving a walkway for Papa's new deck. Actually, he was a little grossed out because he kept saying, "ick" when the concrete poured into the wheelbarrow, but couldn't keep his eyes off of it just the same.
Then, came the super fun part! Connor made his hand prints at the beginning of the walkway for all visitors to see. Papa made his too. They are buddies and it was a great memory to be had.
Until...uh oh...Connor saw the mess on his hands!
He wasn't too happy about that, but it was quickly remedied by Mimi's quick hand washing.
Thanks, Papa. That was a fabulous day...

My Boy is Wicked Smart
This might be one of my first bragging blogs, but that's what a mom does best right?
Connor loves letters. His interest in the alphabet really started emerging around 15 or 16 months by way of his alphabet puzzle, books, and train.
Now, look at him go! He is "spelling" now. Ok, so he is just matching the letters to where they belong, but it's a smart start! By the way, if you have an iPhone or something like it, you must get this app! It's the best...
