Bottles and Lullabies

Tonight's bedtime left me a little weary of Connor's upcoming 1st birthday celebration. Don't get me wrong, I am excited to hear the words that come out of his mouth, and anxious to see the things he will do and show an interest in, but, gosh darn it! I want my baby back...

Connor has only been taking one bottle in the morning, and the rest of his 1/2 formula, 1/2 whole milk mixture in a sippy or straw cup the rest of the day. But, because he did not eat that much today, I decided to give him a couple of ounces of his formula in a bottle before bringing him up to bed. We also read a book, "A is for Apple."

We then went upstairs for pajammy time and as I was already feeling reminiscent of his itty bitty baby bedtime, I put on one of our favorite lullaby cds.

We read a book, and I sang him our song, "You are my Sunshine." He laid his head down on my shoulder and faded off to sleep. As he lay there, so sleepy and pure, I couldn't help but think that these most simple of times are so short and, oh, so sweet.

Bottles will soon be behind us forever, and lullabies will become monotonous, but, tonight, I was yearning for that little baby that is now a little boy.

  1. I know it goes by so fast. I'm happy you savor every second of it though. He may be growing up, but he will ALWAYS be YOUR baby =)
